SonjoKids Terms of Use
Last updated: October 31, 2026
1. Who we are
SonjoKids is provided by Jhon Peña, an individual trading as CodeAndBrands, based in the Dominican Republic ("we", "us"). Contact: contact@codeandbrands.com.
Before you create a child's profile, the app asks you to expressly accept these terms and the Privacy Policy; you also accept them by creating an account or using the app. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. What SonjoKids is
A tool for parents and guardians of children aged 3 to 5: a voice-guided educational activity game for the child and a progress dashboard for the adult. It is an educational aid; it does not replace school or professionals such as speech therapists or learning specialists, and we do not guarantee specific results.
3. Who can use it
- The account must be opened and managed by an adult (18 or the age of majority in their country) who is the parent or legal guardian of the children whose profiles they create, or who has their permission.
- Children only use the play area, under the adult's supervision. You decide when and for how long they play.
- For now, SonjoKids is not offered in the European Economic Area (the European Union countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), the United Kingdom or Switzerland.
4. Your account
- You sign in with your email through an access link or, where the app offers it, with your Google or Apple account; SonjoKids has no password of its own. Keep access to your email, those accounts and your device secure.
- Provide accurate information. In each child's profile use only their first name or a nickname.
- You can create up to six child profiles per account.
- Do not share with the child how to pass the parental gate.
- You are responsible for what is done from your account.
5. Subscription and payments
- An active subscription is required to play. The plans are yearly, with a 7-day free trial for anyone who has never had a SonjoKids subscription, and weekly; from time to time we offer a yearly plan at a reduced price. The price, currency and taxes are shown in the app before you buy and are set by the store in your country.
- Google or Apple charges your store account when you confirm the purchase or, if there is a trial, when the trial ends.
- Automatic renewal. The subscription renews for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for.
- How to cancel. On Android: Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. On iPhone or iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Also from the app: Subscription → Manage in the store.
- Free trial. If you do not cancel before it ends, it becomes paid. If you allow notifications, we remind you 24 hours before.
- Billing problems. We may keep your access during a grace period while the store retries the charge.
- Several devices and restoring purchases. The subscription is linked to your SonjoKids account: it works on any device where you sign in with it, and you can restore it from the app. On the App Store, if Apple allows this subscription to be shared through Family Sharing, your family group can use it too.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by the store under its own terms (Google Play: its refund policy; Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com). None of this limits the rights you have under applicable consumer law.
- Connection. The app works offline, but it needs to connect from time to time to check the subscription. If it cannot, it shows a notice to the adult until it connects again.
- Price changes. We will notify you under the store's rules, and the store may ask you to accept the new price before the next renewal.
- Deleting your account does not cancel the subscription: cancel it in the store.
6. Licence
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app on devices you control, for personal and non-commercial purposes, while your subscription is active. The app and its content (Sonjo, voices, illustrations, activities and software) belong to us or our licensors.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or rent the app or its content; decompile or reverse engineer it except as permitted by law; circumvent the parental gate or the subscription check; or use it for unlawful purposes.
7. Use by children
The child area has no ads, purchases, external links or chat. The parental gate stops a young child from getting into the grown-up area by accident, but it is not infallible: supervise use, adapt screen time to your child's age and take breaks.
8. Availability and changes to the service
We may update the app, add, change or remove activities and carry out maintenance. We do not guarantee that it will work without interruptions or errors. If we significantly remove essential features, we will let you know and you will be able to cancel your subscription.
9. Liability
We provide the app with reasonable care and, to the extent permitted by law, "as is". We are not liable for indirect damages or for losses caused by use contrary to these terms. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the subscription in the 12 months before the event giving rise to it.
Nothing above excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law (for example, for wilful misconduct, gross negligence or personal injury) or the rights you have under consumer protection law.
10. Termination
You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete account). We may suspend or close an account that seriously breaches these terms, giving you notice first unless that is urgent or unlawful.
11. App Store and Google Play
These terms are an agreement between you and us, not with Apple or Google. The purchase is also governed by the store's terms.
If you download the app from Apple's App Store:
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the extent permitted by law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app (product liability, failure to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection or privacy); those claims are our responsibility.
- If a third party claims that the app infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
12. Privacy
We process data in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to these terms
If we make significant changes to these terms, we will let you know in the app or by email with reasonable notice. If you do not agree, you can cancel your subscription and delete your account before they take effect.
14. Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of the Dominican Republic, and any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of the Dominican Republic. Before going to court, please email us at contact@codeandbrands.com: we will try to resolve it with you.
Nothing in this section limits the rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory rules of your country of residence. If you live in the Dominican Republic, you keep your rights under Law 358-05 on the Protection of Consumer and User Rights. If you live elsewhere, you keep the protection of that country's mandatory rules and can bring claims before its courts where those rules allow it.
